Upon receiving your PCS orders, you will probably  have mixed emotions. 

• Excitement - The anticipation of meeting new people, seeing new places and the challenges/changes of a new base is exciting and thrilling. 
  

• Stress -  You might feel stressed and worried about the process and complications of the move.  You understand the  transition to a new home, school and friends for family, especially children and teenagers is never easy.   

There is no advice or tips which will alleviate all the worries and trepidation of a relocation but there are steps you can take that will help make the move go more smoothly and take away some of the stress.

Whether this is your first move or your twentieth, getting organized early on is important and will make the process more manageable.  

1.  Create a central location to keep the details that relate to your move. Remember to have hard copies of everything if you are keeping lists and information on your computer.

2. Make a "To do" list

Birth certificates

Passports

Bank statements

Dental records

4. Prioritize lists (List "A", "B". "C") in accordance with what needs to be done first, second, etc.

6. Find out about vehicle registration in Onslow County, North Carolina

7. Make a list of important telephone numbers and addresses to keep with you during the move and upon arrival.
