Maricopa is feeling confident with the ongoing growth in homes sales!City of Maricopa

Maricopa homeowners are excited about the latest housing trends. Maricopa’s housing market is experiencing a resurgence – new homes are being built, vacancy is at an all-time low, and sales prices keep going up. According to the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU, the average sales price per square foot for a Maricopa home has increased 47 percent over the last 12 months. That is the largest increase among the 41 greater Phoenix communities included in a June 2013 Housing Report.

Mayor of Maricopa City

This is great news for the Maricopa homeowners, but also for Maricopa’s business community. “Residents, developers and businesses are excited about the increase in home values,” said Mayor Christian Price.  “The increases in home values and added population underscore the fact that Maricopa continues to be a community of choice for relocating families and that retailers will find a substantial customer base.”

Jim Rounds, Senior Economist at Elliot D. Pollack & Company, states the economy overall is improving in Arizona. Rounds indicated that there was a 30 percent increase in home values since last year and hopes to see that normal out within the next year at 15 to 10 percent.

Tortosa Subdivision in Maricopa AZ

Chris Hashisaki, Community Manager at Tortosa, a master planned community in Maricopa, noted that new residents are planting their roots in the city. “People feel safe in Maricopa, people are moving here because it’s a great place to live and they’re moving with the intention of staying.” There has also been an increase in resident participation at Tortosa community events. This past year, they had 600 participants for their Easter Eggstravaganza. The same event in years past attracted only 300 residents.

In addition to the new homes springing up throughout the community, there are a number of exciting projects under development in Maricopa. The city’s first permanent structure City Hall and Police Administration  buildings have opened and open house was Sept. 19. The City’s 140-acre Copper Sky Recreation Complex is slated to open in 2014 and features a multigenerational and aquatics center, ball fields, and other recreation amenities.

Central Arizona College opened the first phase of its Maricopa Campus last January, with the 25-year master plan that includes more than 20,000 students at full build out The City is also committed to serving the growing healthcare needs of the families in Maricopa. Banner Health Center opened a 40,000 square foot first phase facility in May of 2012 and Dignity Health Urgent Care opened in April of this year.
