If you haven't already seen it, there is a warning on the NWMLS about a suspicious buyer trolling around. Please be careful! We just finished REALTOR Safety Awareness Month so now is another good reminder to have good practices around personal and office safety.

Warning: Suspicious Buyer in Whatcom County

NWMLS has been asked to provide a warning to real estate brokers who are showing higher end homes in the Bellingham, Edgemore and Chuckanut Ridge areas. There is a man seeking a home with a large storage unit to store classic cars. He has yet to commit any crime, but has been referred to the local police due to his bizarre behaviors and his unacceptable discussions and approach to females. He presents a business card that represents a nationally recognized movie studio, but has a local phone number on it. His physical description is as follows:

  • 6’ tall - 175 pounds male
  • Caucasian with light brown hair
  • Wears wire rimmed glasses
  • Approximately 36 years of age
  • Bad complexion

Be cautious of this individual and always make safety a priority. You should find out as much as you can about new clients, meet them at your office and photocopy their ID. Always tell someone which properties you are showing and when you will be back. Take a cell phone and have emergency numbers readily available.
