It's an interesting time of year in Colorado. Late fall means theaspen leaves are usually changed, ccld nights & early mornings with beautiful afternoons in lower elevations and the possibility for the first snow storms in the high country.
This year is a llittle bit different because the aspen are late changing so the opportunity for aspen colors and snow is high. A weekend getaway to the high country with a stop at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs just outside of Buena Vista can be the perfect answer.
Mt. Princton is a well loved treasure located off of Hwy 285 outside of Buena Vista with a series of mountains running North & South behind it. Several of these are over 14,000 feet tall and offer tremendous hiking or mountain bike riding before an end of the day soak in the hot springs out in the river or one of the resorts hot springs pools.
Heading up and over Fremont Pass past Copper Mountain and West on I-70 over Vail pass you will want to be prepared for snow because there is a distinct possibility this time of year for a snow shower.
Beaver Creek Colorado is a great weekend getaway this time of year. It is not crowded because ski season has not started and the summer tourists have all headed home. Beaver Creek is unique in that the town is gated vs a gated community. Tucked up at the base of the ski mountain West of Vail and Avon it sits in its own beautiful Colorado valley with absolutely stunning beauty around you.
Beaver Creek offers some incredibly accommodations and all of the buildings have beautiful architecture. Whether it is a townhouse, condo, hotel or ski in/ski out mountain home Beaver Creek has it. Restaurants run from fine dining to the Blue Moose Pizza restauran with something to please everyone.
