credit score

Don't worry it is not February yet, just couldn't wait to post for Valentines!!

I am not for sure if I would fully disclose this information to my rental applicants when I perform my tenant credit checks  or use it in my determination during my tenant screening processes when trying to place roommates, but heck it is interesting…..

Credit scores are used to strongly gauge on how likely we as consumers will repay our debts. But can that score also predict whether a couple stays together or not?

Yes, that is right.  Two Federal Reserve Board economists in Washington DC found on their preliminary results that low and mismatched credit scores often foretell an unsuccessful relationship.

Some other interesting findings:

Individuals tend to hook up with others whose scores resemble their own.A person with a score of 747 or higher was 8 times more like to hook up with someone with similar credit score.

This suggests our likelihood to hook up with someone with a better score to help us with our poor credit is not that great!

Couple with low credit scores are more likely to split up.  In fact, couples with average scores of 450 or below are more than twice as likely to split up within four years as couples with scores averaging 750 or higher.

Mismatched scores...Not looking good for those long term relationship seekers!!

Couples who have joint credit, such as a mortgage or credit cards don’t split up nearly as often. Is it safe to say that having joint accounts significantly reduces the separation probabilities?

Of course these results could be explained with other similarities, by people choosing partners based on characteristics that are well reflected by credit scores, whcih makes sense, but this subject is interesting, don't ya think?

Another interesting fact:  There is websites out there for credit score dating!

I thought pulling a criminal background check on a possible relationship candidate was a good idea, but might as well get a credit report too!

So maybe the secret to a long love life is a jointly held credit card?

You shouldn’t be looking for a Perfect “10” anymore look for a 750 or higher!

(Lets give Kudo's to oregonlive.com and sqauredawayblog for enlightening me on this subject)

Lots of relationships fight about money. Who knows what makes something work in a relationship. Guess I will ask for a credit check.

Interesting. But a score does tell how responsible a person is with more than just money I guess.
