BISCAYNE LANDING • NORTH MIAMI, FLORIDA 33181

Biscayne Landing is located in the center of North Miami, a city with approximately 41,000 residents (2006) situated between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in southeastern Florida, the site is bordered to the west by a post office and retail businesses, to the north by 151^st Street, to the east by wetlands and a designated mangrove preserve, and to the south by residential areas. The site, which is owned by the City of North Miami, is located in close proximity to local infrastructure and utilities. The master-planned development (Biscayne Landing) will feature approximately 100,000 square feet of commercial office and retail space, 2,800 to 5,000 residential units, a park and recreation facilities, and a hotel. As part of the development agreement for the site, the project’s developer has also committed to renovating the city’s library and building a charter school, Olympic training facility, and affordable housing on several Brownfield sites located in North Miami. The construction of the charter school is underway, with full build-out of all project components projected by 2021.

A portion of the Biscayne Landing site includes some of the wetlands of Biscayne Bay. The developers decided along with the City of North Miami, to preserve those wetlands in the form of an environmental park.

The Biscayne Landing environmental park will consist of 35 acres. It will be created with an emphasis on helping it to retain its relatively pristine habitat.
It will feature nature hikes, jogging paths, information plaques that describe the resident wildlife and trees, benches, a canoe landing and a boat house. It will also have connecting trails to the magnificent Oleta River State Park, which at 1,043 acres is Florida’s largest urban park.

In addition to maintaining its role as a thriving ecosystem, the Biscayne Landing environmental park will represent an opportunity for residents to enjoy the beauty of Florida’s wetlands.
