During the last several months I have been working on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and have had some success'.  One issue I hear about from time to time is that the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and others will not rank a website highly if the homepage is too large.  I have never heard what number is too large but I would love to hear others thoughts on the subject.  Currently, my homepage is 118k which I am told is large.  Anyone that would like to take a look at my website please feel free and provide any and all advice.  The URL is listed below.  Thanks in advance.  Don

Don,

Yahoo cahes a little higher than 200kb and google a little higher than 500kb. A good article can be found at http://www.sitepoint.com/article/indexing-limits-where-bots-stop

Your main concern should be how fast your page loads for the majority of sloooowwwwww looooaaading computers out there. 50% of the people will start looking for a new site after 8-10 seconds and that includes read and load time. Try cutting down on the graphics. Hope this helps

Hi Greg and thanks for the great info.  After reading that article about three times to fully comprehend it as long as your under the limits you should be ok.  I also agree with you that the graphics can cause a slow computer to completely bog down and we must be careful there.  Thanks so much for your input.
