Speechless Sunday Lunch: Hole Mole at Rpmanti- Ezer / Santa Barbara

Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants

Romanti-Ezer Santa Barbara

Friends had recommended that we have lunch at Romanti-Ezer in Santa Barbara, so we decided to give it a try.  Located in an area known as the Funk Zone (off the beaten path), Romanti Ezer has some of the best mole we have ever tasted.  Located at 701 Chapala at Ortega, it is just close enough to the ample parking at the Paseo Nuevo shopping center.  Everything is made fresh and to order.

hole mole burrito

Ron and I shared a Hole Mole burrito stuffed with carnitas (pulled pork, fresh tomatoes, peppers and spices), and generously topped with the best red mole sauce.  It was perfectly spicy with a hint of chocolate.  We also ordered a fish taco, made with fresh sea bass (local, of course), and fresh pico de gallo.  The accompanying green and red sauces were very tasty.  We sat on the patio, and they have seating inside also.

This is what you will find on their "about" page, and we concur.

Romanti-Ezer, Simple and affordable down-to-earth Home-cooking with a casual atmosphere. “Nothing fancy. No fine dining here – just good food.

If you ever are in Santa Barbara for whatever reason, be sure to have a meal at Romanti-Ezer.  The owner told Ron, they have the best huevos ranchero for breakfast.

They are open from Mon – Wed: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

Thu – Sat: 9:00 am – 3:00 am
Sun: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

Hi Alexandra, Some of these out of the way places have a local following that would make many prime restaurants envious.

Sometimes you just need to know which hole to pick. Some are fabulous and others not so much. This looks like one of the good ones.

I loved it so much, I looked up a recipe for it.  I could go back today for more. LOL

I am sure they would, and I love giving great places a shout out.

We do too, and there was a long line forming as we were leaving, and the prices are very reasonable.

Absolutely. these place do not depend on tourism as some of the other places here do.  These are definitely local hangouts, which is why we always ask the locals when we travel, where those great places are.

I know what you means as I read foodie blog posts, and I am hungry after eating a meal moments earlier.

We had the advantage of having this place recommended to us, and we trusted the people who recommend it.

Hi Alexandra, my goodness that dish looks delicious and I know you enjoyed every bite. Makes me hungry...perhaps it is because I've missed lunch.

Wow, that looks so delicious.  You reminded me that I need to try my hand at a mole sauce.  Right now it's not on the menu at Casa Schowe.  K
