Friends had recommended that we have lunch at Romanti-Ezer in Santa Barbara, so we decided to give it a try. Located in an area known as the Funk Zone (off the beaten path), Romanti Ezer has some of the best mole we have ever tasted. Located at 701 Chapala at Ortega, it is just close enough to the ample parking at the Paseo Nuevo shopping center. Everything is made fresh and to order.
Ron and I shared a Hole Mole burrito stuffed with carnitas (pulled pork, fresh tomatoes, peppers and spices), and generously topped with the best red mole sauce. It was perfectly spicy with a hint of chocolate. We also ordered a fish taco, made with fresh sea bass (local, of course), and fresh pico de gallo. The accompanying green and red sauces were very tasty. We sat on the patio, and they have seating inside also.
This is what you will find on their "about" page, and we concur.
Romanti-Ezer, Simple and affordable down-to-earth Home-cooking with a casual atmosphere. “Nothing fancy. No fine dining here – just good food.
If you ever are in Santa Barbara for whatever reason, be sure to have a meal at Romanti-Ezer. The owner told Ron, they have the best huevos ranchero for breakfast.
They are open from Mon – Wed: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
