1% Better Each Day- TOPIC #3 - EDUCATION (Share Your Tip)

I spend a lot of time educating myself these days.  I truly believe that this is how you can set yourself apart from your peers.  The more you know the better you have the potential to be.  I say potential because you still have to apply what you know!

Learning can be painful for some people.  I remember wanting never to see a text book again after college.  Some Realtors dread continuing education because they have to sit in a course all day and struggle to stay awake.

WHAT SHOULD YOU LEARN: First pick something you are interested in.  Perhaps its a topic related to your business, but it does not have to be.  Earl Nightingale (perhaps the father of personal development) said that if you spend 1 hour a day study a topic that interests you; within five years time you would become a national expert on that topic. 

REALTORS: There is enormous opportunity in this changing market to become an expert in your area.  You might pick REO sales, short sales, buyer representation or something else.  If you put the extra 1 hour a day in each day it will only take you a few months to be a top expert in your area, and certainly over time you can become a national expert if you desire. 

HOW CAN I LEARN: Checking out BLOGs from other Realtors on this website is one way.  Going to a seminar and purchasing CDs is another way. Perhaps you grab a book or two on a certain subject.  Perhaps you get a coach.  I do all these and more. 

1% BETTER APPLIES:  You don't have to make learning painful. Perhaps start by setting 15 minutes a day aside to learn something new or to read and listen to audio.  Then build up from there depending on how much you feel you need to learn to become an expert. EVEN 1% BETTER each day will take you further then you think, faster then you think.
