Before the temps get too cold it is a good time to take advantage of these last few Indian Summer days and prepare your home for winter.  Here are some ideas of things to check to prepare for the colder months...

- Inspect your roof and replace any damaged or missing shingles.

- Make sure gutters and downspouts are free of leaves and debris.

- Consider a fresh coat of paint or sealer on your deck.

- On a windy day, close your windows and then feel for any air leaks and then seal them.

- Turn off any outdoor faucets or in-ground sprinkler systems and drain them.

- Insulate any exposed plumbing.

- If you have an A/C unit remove leaves or debris from the outside unit and cover for the winter.

- Have your chimney cleaned and inspected.

- Have your furnace cleaned and inspected.
