U Pick Pumpkins at an Affordable Price

Get on your pumpkin picking boots and gather up the kids as Dr. Maze Pumpkin patch is open for business. In addition to u-pick pumpkins, they also have the corn maze and the tractor pulled hay rides operating for a couple hours of Autumn fun for the family. Don’t worry, if you have a big family with lots of little ones, they provide wheel barrows so you don’t have to make four trips out to the patch

We’ve been getting our pumpkins from Dr. Maze for 8 years now. I always feel like the pumpkins last just a little bit longer when I go out and pick them fresh from the patch. You can be assured that a store bought pumpkin will be nice and mushy about a week after the kids peel off the top and dump all those fun guts all over the kitchen table. We always find that when we get a pumpkin from Dr. Maze, the usually last on the front steps for at least two weeks!

It’s not Just the Pumpkins

As I mentioned above, they have a lot more than just a pumpkin patch. My son’s favorite part about heading out to Dr. Maze is, you guessed it, the corn maze! Don’t worry, only one person was never able to find their way out. Legend says they help the directionally challenged make their way out, so you don’t have to worry about getting lost......unless it’s dark.

The tractor pulled hay ride is lots of fun for the little ones as well. What elementary school aged child doesn’t like tractors? The guides on the hay rides are lots of fun and they make the little excursion a learning experience for the little ones. I had no idea that the word pumpkin first appeared in the fairy tale Cinderella back in the 1700’s.

Insider Tips to Make Your Visit More Enjoyable

Don’t wear shoes you wouldn’t want getting dirty: It’s a pumpkin patch. Patch is code in the pumpkin business for DIRT. Which means you’re going to get a little dirty. Make sure you don’t have on your brand new Nikes. Believe me, it’s a lesson you don’t want to learn the hard way!

Bring Some Snacks for the Kids: You can easily end up spending 4 hours at the Pumpkin patch. Have you ever seen a 4 year old try to pick out the perfect pumpkin? It takes some time. Not only that, with all the fun stuff to do, it’s easy to lose track of time. But the little ones won’t lose track of when they last ate. There is a small concession stand, but it makes sense to throw a few treats in a backpack so the kids stay full of energy.

You Might Have to Walk For the Best Pumpkins: The pumpkin patch is pretty big. It’s not uncommon that the closer areas are pretty well picked over, especially as you get further in the season. Don’t worry, the further parts of the patch will still have some amazing orange friends.....you just might have to walk a little bit to get to them.

Leave the Stroller at Home: If you have a little one in a stroller, you might consider bringing a more mobile device. Pumpkin patches don’t have stroller lanes. Remember? It’s all dirt. So bring something to carry the non-walker in the family.
