Thinking Outside the Box(es): When What You Ordered Isn't...
Since I moved to Summerland, BC, at the end of June I've been waving my Flufftastic Fairy wand all over my own place to make it awesome!
Part of that involved choosing light fixtures for every room...
Not an easy choice, because if you want: sconces, 1 pendant lights, 3 pendant lights & flush mounts that don't fight with each other, but don't come in the same family it can get frustrating & be overwhelming.
Originally I had seen these sconces by BAZZ at RONA & thought they would look awesome! I was going to put 1 light sconces in my office & Master Bedroom, 3 light sconces in my ensuite & main bath, 1 pendant light above my kitchen sink & a 3 light pendant over the island a few feet away.
Then I was going to find something spectacular for my dining room! (which you can also see from the kitchen, but hey, it's the dining room...)
I asked at RONA about getting what I needed in the BAZZ line, but alas, BAZZ was getting discontinued & RONA couldn't order them for me.
Then; the fabulous Kym Tarr from Prep This House Home Staging in Kelowna told me about her fave lighting store & lent me a few catalogues... Heaven!!
But even though I wrote down the serial numbers of the lights I (finally) chose, they couldn't find them on their computer, so we ended up just perusing what was on sale in the store... (I'm on a budget after all)
This is the light I chose for the Dining room. It was on sale & although I would have liked the pendant version (which was not on sale) I figured it would work since my ceiling is only 8 feet high anyway...
Then I ordered these to go in the kitchen!
I found a few more sconces for the laundry room etc & decided whatever I couldn't find at the lighting store I'd order online, because I've had success with that with other things... (& guess what?! I found my BAZZ lights online! Hee!)
So after a week or so I pick up my lights from the lighting store & bring them home. (I had to borrow a neighbours truck, because there were 7 boxes & another store I was going to for large items)
The electrician comes to install them & this is what he finds when he opens the boxes for the kitchen...
&
He asks what I want to do, because it has to get done while he's here or I'd have to pay extra for him to come back in a few weeks when the new lights came in to the lighting store...
So I take a quick drive to RONA & pick up these...
While I'm gone the dining room fixture has been installed! YAY! (there's more to that story, but that's a whole 'nuther blog post)
He installs the pendant above the kitchen sink, but runs out of time before the island light (which I'm not even 75% sure I like) gets installed.
He says he'll be back in a few days, but in the end ran out of time, then went on holidays...
So now I am left alone with my choices.
I really would rather have a 3 pendant light above my island.
After 3 weeks this is what I came up with. I've started to take the plain glass shells & make this... now all the lights that are within view of each other will be similar.
Hopefully no one will look too close because although they are not exactly the same they are pretty close...
