2013 Solar Decathlon Winners.
The DOE Solar Decathlon took place this year at Orange County Great Park in Irvine, California from October 3rd to 13th. The Solar Decathlon is and award winning contest sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy for collegiate teams to design, build and operate solar-powered homes that are energy efficient, cost effective and practical.
This year there were 19 competing teams from USA, Canada and Europe with the top six teams coming within a 26 point spread with Team Austria winning over all with the highest score of 951.922.
Along with the highest score there are several category’s for teams to win in the contest:-
- Architecture ~ Winner Czech Republic
- Engineering ~ Winner Ontario
- Market Appeal ~ Winner University of Nevada Las Vegas UNLV
- Affordability ~ Winner three way tie
- Norwich University
- Stanford University
- Kentucky/Indiana
