Hunter's Full Moon October 18, 2013- Spectacular

October is the month of the Full Hunter's Moon.

This is the first Full Moon following the Harvest Moon last month.

Some Native American tribes referred to this Moon as the Full Hunter's Moon, as it was the time to go hunting in preparation for winter.
It rises around sunset and sets around sunrise, the only night in the month when the Moon is in the sky all night long. The picture I took was at 5:45 am this morning.

This full Moon is also called the Travel Moon and the Dying Grass Moon.
*Comments: I think there is something mystical about a full moon.

Kristin, our community has a historical celebration called The Feast of The Hunter's Moon every October that draws around 30,000-50,000 people on a weekend depending on the weather.

Hi Gabe,

This morning I was up again at 5:30 am and ran outside to see if I could see the almost full moon now but......cloudy and couldn't see much of anything. Have to wait until the next one. Happy Hunter's Moon. We forget that everyone sees it practically the same unless some outside weather conditions cloud the view.

Hi Yolanda,

Thanks for the nice compliment. My camera focuses on the closest subject to it so the trees are nicely focused and the moon is a little blurry but sort of mysterious too. I love the moon especially during the full moon times of the month. Yes I have been enjoying the autumn as it is my absolutely favorite time of the year.
