Halloween and Black Cats

Oh my, that is something I cannot even imagine!  I believe it and am horrified by it.  It makes me want to go out and pick up all the black cats in the shelter! (of course my current feline friend and Jake would not allow that).  How dare people be so cruel.

So here is an off topic question for you.  Can we no longer add pictures to comments? (you are my go to gal)

I certainly hope that shelters pay particular attention to who they will allow to foster black cats during this season.

Never heard this before. Glad that more paperwork is involved and only serious owners adopt them...

Some people are disgusting! It seems a lot of humans think they are above the rest of the Earth's creatures and there are those who cant even see the intellegence of them. Makes me sad.

I can't even imagine adopting a cat for a gag only to return it after the event. I'm glad they are doing a little more documentation when adopting a cat this time of the year. 

This should be adopt a black cat month. It is always sad to think that animals are mistreated so frequently.

It never crossed my mind that people would get a black cat just for Halloween and then return it afterwards, that is terrible, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Joan, this is one of those things I guess I know somewhere in my mind exists but I just cannot let myself admit it too much because of the horror of it.  My first cat as a little girl was  a black cat and his name was Licorish.  Loved that cat and he was with us until old age finally took him to kitty heaven.  Thanks for the blog about a very tough subject.  

My first cat was a black kitten. I am not a superstitious person, so black cats are nothing more than black cats to me. No different than orange, calico or any other. Love them all!

Joan: Same with baby chicks, rabbits and ducklings at Easter as Nick pointgs out #27. What are people thinking? Definitely keep AJA locked up at home during the Halloween. What a sweet kitty.

Hi Joan, as a child we always had animals. I remember a beautiful black cat that we had...Midnight.  She was an awesome cat.  Never thought that people would do such a thing!

Joan, I'd like to be put in charge of taking care of anyone who harms an animal.  Need I say more?

Joan-I have to wonder has the percentage of sick-minded people increased over the years or are we just hearing about it more now?

Joan, that is unbelievable that anyone would harm or use a cat as part of a costume.  I hope that all color cats at the shelters are wanted to be loved and become part of a family.

Wow: That is certainly not warranted. A cat is a cat no matter what the color is.
