Ever wonder which option is best...whole headed broccoli or precut florets?
WHOLE HEADS: These have a fresher flavor and longer fridge life (if kept in an open plastic bag in the crisper), and all at a lower price too. But, don't toss the stalks! You will be wasting a delicious and just as nutritious portion. Slice and toss them into stir fries, salads or soups.
PRECUT FLORETS: Bagged is more convenient and if you wouldn't have used the stalks anyway, slightly cheaper. But, precut florets taste bland compared with fresh. Plus, after a week, they turn brown and slimy, while the heads can stay crisp and green for nearly 2 weeks.
So, the winner is? Whole Heads in the long run is cheaper!
