Indulge In A Premarital Mortgage But Don’t Get Caught Without A Curtain

Indulge in a premarital mortgage but don't get caught without a curtain.  Oh, no! I am not being naughty here.  This has something to do with buying your first home. So don't raise your eyebrows just yet, read on...

I am probably behind the news but nevertheless let me share what Coldwell Banker Real Estate found out after a survey done last March 8-12 which was conducted online within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of Coldwell Banker. According to the data gathered "about one in four married couples between the ages 18 to 34 purchased their first home together before their wedding date, compared to 14 percent of those ages 45 and older.  In addition, 35 percent of all married couples purchased their first home together by their second wedding anniversary, and 80 percent of married homeowners who purchased their home while married said it did more to strengthen their relationship than any other purchase they made together."

Is this news?  I think not.  This survey only confirms what we know and are consciously aware that we have actually embodied the true American culture. We buy our first dream home either by cash or through mortgage.  We do not wait for miracles to happen.  Americans live the dream without having to worry about the eventualities because Americans are independent, confident and would like to make smart decisions like buying their first home as early as possible.  Dr. Robi Ludwig says and I quote, "When a couple buys their first home, it's one of the most exciting new experiences they ever will share together.  They not only learn about each other's wishes and dreams during this process, but they also learn how to be practical with each other and compromise.  Buying a home has more of an impact on a couple's relationship than any other purchase they will ever make.  It bonds two people together and makes them a family."

However despite this realization, we have to bear in mind the factors involved should you consider buying a home before marriage.  Review your financial income together and if you are both happy to indulge in your first mortgage together, then go ahead.  Communication is the key.  You can also ask us anything that concerns about mortgage and home buying, we will be happy to be part of your first biggest decision ever as a couple.

Frank, interesting title. :) It's a big step and a big financial responsibility, very smart to consider all of the what if scenarios when purchasing a home in this manner.
