SAFETY TIPS FOR LITTLE "GHOULS"

1.   Choose a light colored costume so your child can be easily seen or add reflective tape to the front, back and trick or treat bag.

2.      Make sure the costume is flame retardant

3.       Make sure that wigs, beards and masks do not cover your child’s eyes, mouth or noses.

4.      If possible use face paint instead of mask.

5.       Put your child’s name and phone number somewhere on the inside of the costume.  Don’t let it show where a stranger might be able to call them by name.

6.       Keep their shoes comfortable and easy to walk in

7.      Keep their props such as wands and swords are short and flexible

8.       Accompany children under the age of 12.

9.       Make sure older children, have a cell phone, stay in a group and only go to houses with lights on.

10.   All children should make sure they cross at crosswalks and not assume that a vehicle will stope for them

11.   Make sure they have a flashlight or glow sticks

12.   Trick or treat in the area you know

13.   Keep your home safe as well by removing anything children might trip over and keeping your pets out of the way

14.   Check with your local Emergency rooms, fire stations or doctor’s office.  There is always one of these places where you can have candy checked for any problems

Now what to do with all that candy:
