DALWORTHINGTON GARDENS TEXAS HOMES & REAL ESTATE

Dalworthington Gardens, one of the most unusual communities in Texas, is located in east central Tarrant County between Interstate 30 to the north and Interstate 20 to the south, about twelve miles southeast of Fort Worth. The community was established as a subsistence homestead project during the Great Depression under the authority of the National Industrial Recovery Act. The name is a portmanteau of parts of names of the anchor cities of the Metroplex. Dallas forms the "Dal", Fort Worth forms the "worth", and Arlington forms the "ington". Hence, "Dal"-"worth"-"ington".

Dalworthington Gardens is a small community boasting average to luxury homes, from 100,000 to the millions. Due to its proximity to the metroplex, the city became more desirable as time passed and the original homes were replaced by more modern designs. Original homes have been restored and the local historic commission has placed markers which identify them as part of the original plan.

No Independent School District was ever established, therefore, students attend Arlington schools.  In Texas, school district boundaries do not always follow city and county boundaries because all aspects of the school district government apparatus, including school district boundaries, are separated from the city and county government. In the case of Dalworthington Gardens, no Independent School District was ever established. The proximity of the already established Arlington ISD led to the entirety of Dalworthington Gardens being served by the AISD since the middle of the 20th century. Pantego Christian Academy is a popular and large private school in the neighboring town of Pantego.

No colleges or universities are present in this community, but the town lies in proximity to the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). The community is also served by the Tarrant County College district of junior colleges which has campuses located in the surrounding cities.
