Unplugging for a few days & enjoying the views at Zion National Park, Springdale UT
Moving from Delaware to California this past summer was quite a roadtrip, and along the way I saw some amazing sights. I was thankful that I marked Zion National Park in Springdale, UT as a place to stop along the way. I drove from Denver CO down to Springdale UT and arrived well after the sun had gone down. Everything was pitch black & I had no idea what the surroundings looked like (this was my first time driving anywhere west of Kansas) so you can imagine the smile on my face when I walked out of the hotel room to this:
To anyone that's never been to the east coast - when it comes to mountains & canyons - they sure don't make em like that!
I spent a day hiking, swimming, and climbing through the park in 110 degree weather (I don't recommend desert hiking in early July), and was blown away by Zion's beauty before driving from Springdale, UT to Costa Mesa, CA, my new home, but promising I'd be back soon.
With so much on my plate for the next couple months - my California licensing expected to be approved 11/1, heading back east for Thanksgiving, the holiday season, and working 50-60 hour weeks for the foreseeable future, I decided to take this birthday weekend as an opportunity to recharge, and refuel, and get away for a last minute camping trip.
Leaving late tonight & arriving at the park early tomorrow morning (reuniting with my good friend I-15 overnight), I'll have no cell phone, email, or internet for 3 straight days. Instead, I'll have beautiful weather, a few good friends, a campfire, and amazing scenery.
Do you love the rare opportunity to unplug & get away as much as I do?
