WE have been hearing that gas will drop to under 3 bucks on some areas.  I thought that maybe we may get close, but...

Today, it is at $2.95.

It is hard to believe that for once we were hearing the truth.

For those who commute any distance, this is like a temporary raise.

How long will it last?  That is hard to say.  I hear it will be until after Christmas.

However long it is, it is welcome!

That is good news. Problably meant to distract from the hikes in price for our health insurance.

William,

Glad to hear about the great fuel prices in your area. In our area prices have only dropped to the 3.40 to 3.50 mark. hope we reach your prices soon.

Pretty sad when Americans are excited about gas being under $3.00 per gallon.  Gas prices have doubled since 2005 and now everyone is complacent that $3.00 plus is normal.

Most of the price of gasoline is TAXES.   The rest goes to the Saudi King that Obama bows to.

I can't even believe that it used to be under $1/gallon.  It seems like eons ago.

I remember years ago when my Father-in-law went on a fall hunting trip. He came back to find that gasoline was 50 cents a gallon - and yelled at his wife for it!

Even farther back... remember the gas wars in the 70's? I was driving a little Chevy Vega - and it cost under $3 to fill the tank. Gas dropped as far as 19 cents for a while...

I haven't been out and about since Tuesday, but then I noticed gas was $3.59 - and diesel was $3.89.
Would be great if we saw the same drop that you're seeing.

When I started driving, gas was just hitting the $1 mark.  At the peak, in Vermont, prices were as high as $4.60.

I remember gas at around 17 cents nd they filled your tank, check your oil and then you got a glass or dinner plate to boot.

Back in high school we would get enough gas for an evening of driving by getting change out of the ash tray or our pockets. Now you empty your wallet to get a tank full.

I live in CT not close to $3.00 I just paid $3.49 at costco on the street it is over $3.50. CT is a blue state which means we exist in the red though we are taxed beyond reasonableness.
