No I dont HAVE time, I MAKE time!

Ever wonder why some people seem to get the job done, are successful and have the things you aspire or wish for?

When I say "things" I am also not specifically talking about "things" time, focus, reputation, character, family are far more important but "things" are the first and easiest thing to visualize.

There is NO magic in this world but there are critical factors like, morals, values, ethics, hard work and keeping your word and promises. These are all vital attributes to being successful and success I believe is more a choice than random luck.

There is no doubt that technology has afforded most of us the ability to be more "connected" more "productive" and commit more hours from this to be "successful". With that said that also seems to have us stretched more and more thin and can leave many of us feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.

We can all make excuses why we dont have time for this or that. I have even burnt out to the degree I took several months off from the rain. I was truly fried but with some feeling of loss of connection and urging from my spouse to "not let all I had worked to build up over the last several years just sit idle", I finally got my AR groove back. From many of the posts I see, read and comment on I have noticed more posts talking about time.

Comments like "I dont have the time to devote to the rain", "I cant find time for the rain" and "I am trying to find time to be more active in the rain" etc.

Let me ask you a couple questions...

If you had a customer call would you take that call? My guess is YES

If you had an appointment that needed that "extra mile" of work or effort, would you do that? My guess is YES

AR is NO Different. Customers dont realize how points work, they are like anyone else they look at who is ranked at or near the top and most are under the impression that is the expertise or ranking we carry as "experts" in our field or geographic area. In addition, get YOUR name out there, with good info, to be found, selected and profit from your work as well. To see many an AR blogger have their posts rank at or near the top of Google searches why would anyone stop or use an excuse regarding time?

If you are feeling burnt get BALANCE back into your life and gradually eliminate time wasters and implement time producers!

My thought is AR is something you CANNOT afford to not have time for!

Like many of us I have the benefit of a job and work on average 60+hrs every week. I dont have "time" for AR either but finding balance I make a conscious decision to... MAKE TIME for AR!

David, very accurate assessment on what makes successful people successful and why whine about what others have vs. doing what it takes to get there (or be content with what we have...).    Burnout is real and I really appreciate your comments before & after on this.

David, yes, with 60 hour work weeks, it's easy for people to just throw in the towel when it comes to AR, but as you mentioned, the successful people are able to still squeeze in time to devote to AR because they understand its importance. Thanks!

Great blog post and thoughts, thank you David.  If it's not on your schedule, it doesn't exist.  For me it's important to schedule all the important things I have to do to be successful each week, prospecting, appointments, followup, prequalifying, blogging.  If it's important to me and my business, I schedule it.

It's human to feel burn out from time to time; but if we know what works we should keep at it.

David, if someone can master time management, one can do EVERYTHING!

It's a matter of scheduling one's time, time-block and just do it! Simple! And that is true for me - for blogging, commenting, re-blogging on ActiveRain!

In the end, we make time for what is important to us. If someone doesn't have time for AR, it's just not important to them. We all have the same 24 hours in a day and it's up to each of us to figure out what our priorities need to be during those 24 hours.

I schedule my time with AR and part of that is developing a strategy of what to write about . ..

it takes time to understand AR and its benefits. .

David, I think the key to effectively use AR is discipline. You just have to make it part of your day.

If it is important to you, you will make the time to be committed to it. I say no to a lot of things that I am not passionate about. I save my time and energy for things I truly want to do. This means that sometimes, I even turn down a listing opportunity if it interferes with another commitment. Money does not drive me. Giving superior customer service does. :)

David, no matter how busy we are, we will somehow make time for things that make a difference and ActiveRain is on top of my list. It's like an addiction to me, I just can't stay away..I can't afford not to make time for AR.
