Delray Beach Orchid Show 2013- Like a Kid in a Candy Store!

 

I took some time off today to attend the Delray Beach Orchid Show in the Old orchid-Gymnasium at the Center for the Arts in Delray Beach.   And yes, I was just like a kid in a  candy store

I’ve been going to orchid shows for years now, and each time I walk away thinking this must be what a kid feels like when the doors to FAO Schwarz open.

 

I just wanted to share some of the beautiful orchids that were there.   And, BTW, there’s still time to go as the show is on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27th .  -

it is nice you were able to go, It would be nice to see some bright flowers where all of ours have been biten by the frost and have turned brown.

James- it was packed with orchidsand I loved everything.

Wayne- I'm tempted to return today or tomorrow, but I'm going to exercise some restraint.

Sheila- I love orchids and could have spent all day there wandering around and looking at them.

Clint- and, it will be packed all weekend.

Cindy- thanks, but guess what... most people will tell you that the best care has a touch of neglect added to the mix. 

Scott- and that's why I live in Florida!!!!!

Hi Kathy -- you're right the variety of orchids represented at the Delray Beach Orchid Show is incredible.  To be able to see such a selection all in one place must be truly incredible and a lot less fattening than the samples at a candy store.

Michael- I had to set a limit on myself or I would have walked out of there with more orchids than I cold carry. 

Robert- oh yes, they did!!!  

Kristin- This is something I look forward to doing each year. 

BARFF- if I could grow them when I lived in VA, then I know you can too!  

Terri- just returned from the Delray Halloween festivities.  Weather was perfect.

Alexandra- that would have been smart on my part.  I have a routine where I walk the whole exhibit, and pick out what are my "maybes" then come around and but the ones that make the cut. 

Will- It really is with all of the beautiful colors around.

Lanre- yes you did!  I remember when I first got into orchids... I killed the first one I every bought.  I've discovered that with them, less is more. 

Sharon- thank you!  You should go to some orchid growers near your parents when you go to visit them. 

Bobbie- I was about 2 minutes from there today and wanted to go backbut I exercised some restraints. 

Judi- I hope you have a chance to go... even if only to take pictures.

Kathy those are gorgeous Orchids.  A couple of the women at work have them on the window by their desks and they are beautiful flowers.

That's so cool!  I've never been to an orchid show but they are one of my favorite flowers!  They make such great gifts too!  So much better than a bouquet of flowers, in my opinion.

I can't handle Orchids as they are just too delicate for my tastes.  They are beautiful but for someone else.
