This Realtor does not Work for Free in Katy!
Once again I had a time sucking vampire potential client want me to work for free. I have probably complained about this in the past but I am writing this post for all to see. I will put it on my web site. I guess all of us really are to blame for the public not only requesting us but expecting us as realtors or agents to help them pro-bono.
The episode starts by me receiving an email on Friday morning through Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) from a potential client requesting information about a home in South Katy in the Westheimer North neighborhood. Prior to me even gathering all the requested information, she the potential client sends off in rapid fire three separate showing requests for other homes located in South Katy asking to view on either Saturday October 26 or the following day. I respond I can show her the home she requested information and the other three homes on Saturday with a meeting at my office scheduled for 11 AM. I also tell her to confirm as I have to make appointments for showings.
I always take inquiries originating from the HAR web site very seriously as you never know if this is some person looking to make trouble, looking for a lawsuit or whatever. Last thing I need is someone sending a complaint into HAR about me for some bogus claim. I do take other inquiries from other sources seriously but since I have been burned so many times times in the past I limit as much as I can my own time until I know if this is a real potential to be an actual client who can buy or sell a home.
I decide to pull and print all the data as I do not get a response from this lady and my time is running very short. She requests Email correspondence from her HAR viewing requests but does leave a phone number. I finally decide as the afternoon is passing by very quickly to try her cell number. After numerous rings I get a system recorded message stating the owner of the phone has NOT set up voice mail. Hmmm my mind thinks how many individuals these days do not immediately set up voicemail on a cell phone. Probably next to none! I send her another Email telling her I have to have a positive commitment for our appointment as I still have to make the appointments. Once again I am still concerned as she came in via HAR. Other source I would have said we will try Sunday but you have to confirm.
As I am driving home she Emails me a confirmation but now has indicated she does not want to view one of the previously selected homes and has added 2 more. I tell her again I will see her at 11 AM next morning. We go to a friends home for dinner and I spend another one hour working on her stuff at home after dinner. I now have about 3 hours of work into this person.
She does show up on Saturday morning albeit she was late with her sister in tow. Very quickly she sees the papers in front of me ( I do not try to hide) and states in a very snotty manner something to the effect .. You expect me to sign a buyer's contract with you to view these homes? I nod my head and as I am saying yes she is getting up from the chair with no discussion. She was expecting me to help her pro-bono. She and sister get up and storm out of the conference room. Her sister looks embarrassed. She is glaring at me with terrible dirty looks. I say to her you should have said this me upfront as I would not have wasted my time. I also say as she hits the door which is locked you don’t work for free why do you expect me to work for free? No response from her and she tells her sister well there is Starbucks here we go to while glaring at me with nasty looks as I had to unlock the door. Like I care if they go to Starbucks!

Another time sucking vampire person who actuals expects me to help her pro-bono. She probably has a friend or relative in Katy who is a Realtor or agent and is too lazy or incompetent or both or supposedly busy to help her. This whole melodrama is getting real old.
Folks if this is your game or stick or entertainment then call someone else to see if they are stupid enough to assist you.
