Is it just United Healthcare? I officially became a senior citizen this month and signed up with United Healthcare as of October 1. Since Ronnie turned 65 last February and I am the one that did all of the health insurance searching, I began gathering information about this time last year.
A good friend who has United Healthcare said it was the ONLY way to go. Then came the news that most of the good local hospitals were not going to be covered by United as of January 1, 2013. In the end, they did renegotiate the plans and the hospitals were included. We both signed with United when it came time to choose our coverage.
Now fast forward one year. I was at St Luke's Hospital today for eye appointments for Ronnie and heard that as of January 1, 2014 United will not cover St Luke's! I called United and the clerk on the phone said that was correct and they are not negotiating, they are dropping all St Luke's Eye Centers.
I am waiting until December and will make the call again to United before I switch to Aetna! I hate this aggravation! Things need to be simple. The health care industry never heard of KISS!!!!
