Moving the Canyon Creek Fall Festival at Trailhead Park to the afternoon continues to be the key for an extremely successful event! Saturday, October 26, 2013 was a perfect fall day to welcome the huge crowd of residents wearing their Halloween costumes. We saw babies, dogs, kids and adults sporting some pretty outstanding outfits!
Jenny Zimmerman again pulled this together and deserves a huge round of applause for her dedication to this event. It was definitely an event to remember! Jenny you are the best!
This year the red carpet was rolled out for each group of kids in the contest. There were 3 categories: Most original, Most attention to detail and Funniest! Great job judges….you had your work cut out for you….you had to make some tough decisions. Thank you Mark Rowe, Bianca Vandenberg and Don Zimmerman!
Michael from the Zoo Show brought some exotic and Creepy Crawly animals to the party. Everyone likes to interact with the animals in their presentation!
The Westwood High School String Quartet entertained everyone marking the end of the party!
We are fortunate to have a community who takes pride in creating a “Happening” and goes all out in participating. I marvel at the community’s response to seasonal events.
There were many sponsors ensuring a successful event. They provided bouncy houses, cash prizes for costume winners, face painting, arts & crafts, prizes for pets, wild flower seeds distribution, cookies from a non-profit, even box dinners from Chicken Express!
At the suggestion of Jenny Zimmerman we tried a new vendor for our annual sponsorship of the large bouncy house. The feedback from the kids was it was a raging success.
Mark your calendars now for the Christmas Tree lighting event on December 7, 2013 by the tree planted last year in Canyon Creek Park near the pool! It’s going to be an event you won’t want to miss..complete with horse drawn carriage rides and Christmas carolers!
