My Updated Schedule
Among my favorite trainings was one facilitated by Joe Stumpf called By Referral Only. Even though I am no longer in the mortgage or the Real Estate business, I still use the recommendations and techniques that were taught during this 2 1/2 day training. The most important of which is creating a schedule and sticking to it!
I have posted my schedules below. Because of my parenting schedule with my boys' mother, alternate weeks vary slightly.
This week, I am [conveniently] in Week 1. Click on the picture on the left to view my schedule for Week 1 or the one on the right for Week 2. An explanation of the weeks follows the picture-links.
One of the key concepts that I work to employ is to design my work schedule around my life schedule. As a business owner, it is easy to get caught up focusing on work and we try to fit life in when we can. I KNOW that Real Estate agents can especially agree with this!
In following this recommendation, I have found that I can be far more effective if I schedule set times for certain activities, including processing, appointments and even time to work "on" my business (such as reworking paperwork and redesigning forms...the block called "Remodel"). Weekly updates to clients are also very important, not just for the clients, but also for me!
Setting specific times to return phone calls (and emails) is KEY. How many times have we spent an entire morning fielding phone calls and responding to emails and by lunch we don't feel as though we have accomplished anything at all??
It was also recommended to block out certain times when the cell phone and the email are OFF. These are down times which include any time dedicated to family and our significant other. If we don't get away from the business at some point, we will burn out.
Thursday night is my night with Joyce and I don't do anything but spend it with her. Fortunately, she has made the same commitment to me!
When employed properly, I have found myself to not only be more efficient, but much less stressed. Without the schedule, I feel myself moving from one thing to the next and by 3pm I am left feeling drained and as if I still have so much to do.
