October 29, 2013-- Word of a big shake-up today in Marin real estate: NRT, the nation's largest residential real estate brokerage company, announced the acquisition of Frank Howard Allen Realtors.
Frank Howard Allen Realtors has been a fixture in Marin real estate for more than a century, and it's ranked among the top 60 real estate brokerages in the United States.
With this announcement, NRT acquired Frank Howard Allen Realtors' 17 company-owned offices throughout Marin, Napa and Sonoma Counties. Thirteen of the newly acquired offices will now do business as Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. The other four office operations, two of which are located in Sonoma, will now operate as Sotheby's International Realty.
Today, Frank Howard Allen gathered its agents and employees at the Marin Country Club, where the announcement was made. Rumors of change started yesterday afternoon, when word came that there would be a "company-wide" meeting today.
What if your house is listed with a Frank Howard Allen agent?
No doubt your agent will be contacting you, if he or she hasn't already. There will be some paperwork involved in transferring your listing to Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. But your agent is still your agent, and that won't change unless you want it to. You may have plenty of questions about how this affects your listing, and I'm sure your agent will do his/her best to explain it all to you.
Basically, anything with the Frank Howard Allen logo will need to be changed to include the Coldwell Banker logo instead. So, that would mean new property flyers and other advertising materials. I imagine yard signs will get switched out over the coming days or very near future.
