For the last few weeks I have actually been out in the field showing people many homes in South Florida. Normally I'm the listing agent. But I have a few clients right now that want to buy..... so why not take advantage of a good thing and sell them something. Now don't get me wrong....I like showing people homes but I normally have my partner handle the buyers.

You would think the title to this was going to be about a natural disaster or something.....nope it's about a body part.

For the last few weeks my right foot has been bothering me.I think I did it in the gym or shooting baskets or maybe it was when I was cutting my lawn. I figured it was just a sprain but over the last few days I have had to resort to taking a few too many aspirins and a few leftovers of medicine from my last toothache. Our good friend is a podiatrist and she has asked me to come see her but I don't want no one touching my foot:)!

Seriously ...I think I have a stress fracture in my foot and she agrees that it could be that too. But I never said anything while I was showing all those properties over the last two days. Right now I'm sitting in a hot foot bath.

Yep......I'll be limping into her office next week.

I can't believe I had that much stamina.

Sally,

It's a sports related injury but from what I understand ...I might have to be off my feet for like 6 weeks.

I hope you feel better soon Neal!  Showing homes can be rough especially if you are not feeling 100%!  I have a bad back, and I remember showing homes...and hoping the day would be over soon!  Hopefully your efforts will get you a sale and that will boost you up also!   Be well!

Enjoy your bah and get that foot taken care of SOON--don't skip that appointment next week!  It's a good thing that you took out the buyers, huh--now maybe you'll take care of YOURSELF!

Ok two things 1) send Wendy to a hallmark store and have her get you a jelly bath, it pulls toxins out and sit in a hot tub and relax, the jelly keeps the water hot longer. It has green tea, and other stuff in it.  2) it could be glass, we pulled a tiny, tiny shiver out of Allyssas foot this week from a glass Mike broke 2 week ago, it was so deep and we couldn't see anything but she could hardly walk. Not to say it couldn't be a stress fracture, but try these 2 things, the jelly bath will soften the foot.

Neal,
Ouch!  I think perhaps you'd better accept the fact that you'll be doing more sitting than walking for a few weeks.  Maybe you'll be writing offers as a result of those showing, at least you that is something you can do sitting.

Neal Bloom - Hey tough guy, even when implementing preventional treatment like 'anything to do with flexibility' it happens when one is active enough.  My guess is you don't have to worry, you've got a brain.  That comes first before the fist anyhow...

Debe,

I think next week is busy too! I can't resist.

Lisa,

Thanks mama Lisa:)

Missy,

I used Epsom salts for now until I go to the Dr.

Cynthia,

That's ok..we are going to Naples for the weekend so I probably will be relaxing anyway. But I believe it's going to be a fracture from the prognosis.

Jason,

Yeah I think the brain is working today.

This is the sign of a true professional.  Maybe you can take it easy for the weekend and it wont be as bad when you get to go to the doctor.

At least you didn't hurt your hand, you can still write contracts and blog.

A couple of years ago I had my foot in a cast.  I kept working and went for the sympathy close.  :)

Hey Neal - poor thing, a battle wound from showing homes!  Who knew that could be so treacherous?!?!?

Seriously, I hope this heals soon for you.  If I had to be laid up for 6 weeks, I'd go nuts!  I think I'd be doing the "Randy Prothero" method - cast and sympathy so I wouldn't go nuts while trying to heal.

Neal, how in the world can you stay off of your feet for 6 weeks?  I don't envy you, that's for sure.  If I were closer I would help out!  I hope you have someone to assist your clients for you.  Good luck and blog away!

Kimberly,

I didn't do much walking this weekend..I spent Sat in Naples with my wife and all we did was go for dinner and drinks..now I'm back and have to get it xrayed.

Fred,

Thanks!

Randy,

True I can still write but thankfully it isn't too bad where I can't work...we shall see the results when I can get over to take an X ray.

Ann,

I can't sit still...I'll be hitting the gym but won't be using the treadmill...will have to find the lazyman bike:)

Steve,

I won't be using crutches..I even tried the ace bandage only to rip it off because I couldn't stand wearing it.

George,

I'm not ready to give up the active lifestyle....maybe it's from showing all those retirement condos:)

Diane,

Hopefully it won't be that long...I can't...I'm busy now too.

Thesa,

I have iced and used heat...neither work for bone discomfort...even a few motrins were useless.

Cynthia,

Sports related injury..thats the only way it could have happened.

Diane,

I know all about it...thanks!

Sandra,

Will do!

Neal,

The term "at any cost" describes the way we have to live all aspects of our professional lives in South Florida these days.

Those of us that are left in real estate have to do whatever it takes to make it through the bottom and to the recovery.

Sometimes that means working hurt.  Regular people can't do it.  Thats why they closed up shop months ago.

I really admire your work ethic.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

Rick

Rick,

With that...I'll be out once again tomorrow...my foot had some rest but right now it's a bit sore again.

Mike,

It actually hurts more in my home than outside..If I ever get the chance...I'm trying to get to the Dr. for at least an Xray.

Neal- The USPS thinks it's unique with the rain, snow, sleet and hail bit but  all REALTORS know we show property and write offers no matter how we feel.. 2 days after I had my appendix out I habd my Broker drive me to a property so I could meet a client..  Then again maybe we just aren't too bright..Hmmmm.

Your foot my left arm...sheesh we're a pair of "season" warriors!  I have done something brutal to my shoulder to a point where it's getting realllllly difficult to raise my arm over my head....but....ya know....I got people coming in and appointments and showings and contracts and as long as I can get buy without doing my "Oh what a feeling to buy...Toyota" dance that I normally do when I get a deal done or if I can get by without having to high-five someone with that arm,  I'll make it through. I hope your foot feels better soon! :).

Neal, hope your foot is better.  Nothing worse than showing property when your feet hurt.  Did you make the sale?
