My husband and I are building an insulated concrete form home on a lot that we purchased 12 years ago in Wesley Chapel, Florida. What used to be out in the sticks is now in the middle of everything.
We actually pulled our own building permits and are self building.
With the market being somewhat slower, contractors are excited for the work and are competing for it. What that means for us is a terrific price with all the extras at a fraction of what we would have been spending at the height of the market.
The contractors that are completing the work are excellent and well priced.
I have heard other people's horror stories, however, we plan on building again. It has been an extremely pleasant experience. We are truly excited and feel very blessed with all that we have saved.
