No One Likes Wasting Money

Toner cartridges for your printer are expensive. A full set of cartridges for my color printer runs close to $500. My black and white is about $80.

When the light flashes or you get a message on your printer or computer that the toner is "low," get out your credit card and prepare to spend around a hundred bucks.

Both new and older machines can be "rejuvenated" with refill kits.

Checkthe online store, www.tonerrefillkits.com , to see if a kit is available for your laser printer, plain paper fax machine (or multipurpose machine, or plain paper copier

Typically the only tool you need is a screwdriver and a sheet of newspaper. Most toner cartridges can be refilled twice. The typical savings is about 50% -74% each time you refill. Refill instructions are included with the kit.

Anthony- This is a good tip...Once I got an online fax, and my Tablet PC I use way less paper, and haven't had to buy toner in quite awhile.

Personally, I hate it when my printer runs out of ink, and that's because I know I will have to go to the store to buy some more. LOL.

I know that a lot of the office supply stores are doing refills too. I use the office printers for major print jobs and my home office printer for everything else. Probably costs a little more from office charges, but it's divided up over time and I don't have to worry about running out! =)

Kathy~ I try to get as much files as pdf as possible but many people or afraid of new technology. I do not have efax yet.

Ryan~ No more running to the store they are online.

Ron~ many stores in my area just to ink and not toners. I work from home and do not use the office so I have to get my own tools and supplies.

I tried the inkjet refill kits but never much liked them. Much to messy. I am sure the fax is similar.

inkjets are a pain and are not woth the effort. Toners are simpler and a greater cost savings.

Update,

I refill the black cartridge on my OKI today. It was quick and easy and took about five minutes including cleanup time (throwing the sheet of newspaper away)

My question is how does it print afterwards? I've used these refills on my xerox and they don't print as well as the originals from the company, have you had that problem?

I am sure that you have noticed that most printers today including the color printers are not as expensive as they were a few years ago. The printer companies have come to the conclusion if they build a printer and sell it for about what the cartridge cost to change out less than three time.

Some of the manufactures have actual chips in the cartridge which really gets my crawl. I know they want you to have a fresh cartridge for a given amount of time, the chip tells the printer that the time is up and even if you have never used the ink cartridge it will prevent the printer from printing.

Grab your wallet go down and get the new print cartidges since all of them were now out of date come back install them and now you are getting another error on the printer........ what the ...... now the printer is saying that the print heads are bad. Now you have just bought a new printer but most don't realize this until they come home with the new print cartidges and now go out to buy the print heads which are about four times the price of the ink cartridges..... sure you can try to refill but wiith the chips.... and I am talking about HP products.....

I run a netowrk lazer printer printing black and white which has a toner cartridge, I can go along time, take the toner out give it a few shakes and walla I am back in the black. My color printers are always wanting an new cartridge..... so you guest it my CMA are black and white, I have all my brochures professionally printed on quality paper with wax ink that does not run

The quality is comparable. From my experience you should only refill a couple of times, then you will see noticable blemishes after that.

I currently use a samsung all in one for black and white printing and fax. I use an OKI for color printing.

Anthony, I have an OKI C3400n color laser printer, but didn't see it listed on the website. Which OKI do you have? I would love to find a quality refill for it.

and a Samsung scx4216f )(all in one)

the kids use a lexmark optra E. That one has seen better days and is on its last lap.

After you search for your machine brand if it is not listed try the submit an unlisted machine link or you may search by cartridge number that may help.

Thanks Rod! I am tired of spending all my hard earned money on toner for my two laser printers. One is an HP and the other is a new all-in-one Samsung I just bought.

I checked out the site and didn't see my Samsung, but did submit "unlisted machine," so we'll see what happens. As long it's not difficult to do as you say and not too messy because I do a lot of rush print jobs with my loan document signings and don't need the added stress.

A small amount of toner usually to clean up with the included rag. That is why I use the newspaper. It works great for me because the stores no longer carry the cartridges for my samsung anyways and that machine is my workhorse.

If you can, spend a little more up front and get a laserjet printer vs a cheaper inkjet. The toner vs ink price per page will make up the difference in a year.

As well, I've been purchasing both my inkjet cartridges and toner on ebay. They are refurbished, come with a warranty, and you don't have to waste your time refilling the ink when needed. Well worth it.

I have been refilling my toner cartridges for about 5 years now. Generally cost me about $7.00 per refill and lasts around 3000 pages. Usually I can get at least three refills before I have to change cartridges.

Another angle on buying toner cartridges is Ebay.

I've purchased new, HP brand toner cartridges for less than I can get the toner for. It just takes a few minutes to set up a notification for when the auction is close to the end.
