Splitting wood in El Dorado County

In El Dorado County, we are still allowed to burn real wood in our fireplaces; many of the surrounding areas only allow this on “permissive burn days”. Just one more reason to live in El Dorado County.

As the weather begins to get cooler, we are running out of time to get the firewood ready to burn. On our property we have many large trees and some of them have fallen. The boys and I will be splitting a lot of wood tomorrow to get ready for the cold winter season.

I’m probably going to be sore on Sunday. J

Good morning, Tom. I used to really enjoy going out and harvesting firewood. I finally gave into the wife's nagging and converted the wood-burning fireplace to gas logs. However, I still have my outside fire pit.

One of the things I miss about my own home.  I had three fireplaces, one in the basement, one in the living room and one in the master bedroom.

My fireplace is in use all winter long.  Keeping wood is a challenge but it's always available from local landscapers.

I former home buyer is gifting me with about 3 cords of lovely split pieces.  They're clearing some trees from their yard and only have an elec. fake fireplace.

Wow a ban on burning wood.  What would our founding fathers think?

Good morning Tom. It's hard to believe that there are places where burning real wood is not legal. Scary stuff. Enjoy your fires my friend.
