Pagoda Plant – Ornamental Shrub for Florida Gardening

Pagoda plant is an ornamental shrub that enjoys tropical weather more than the cold. It is a perfect plant for Florida gardening. It originated from the South East Asia.

It is a fast growing plant that can be propagated from semi hardwood cuttings or seeds and does not like to be over watered.  It can also be grown in a flower pot as an indoor plant near windows or doors for sunlight.

They bloom between spring and fall with clusters of showy flowers in tiers like the shape of a pagoda. The orange reddish flowers have some white, stem from one trunk, and will attract bees, butterflies and birds.

Pagoda plant’s leaves are in heart shape.  As the shrub grows taller, the leaves closer to the top will become smaller in shape. The colorful pagoda shape flowers stand tall above the leaves.

The ornamental shrub will grow up to about 6 feet tall.  Some gardeners use it as a privacy fence to brighten up their backyard. In some communities, they are planted on road medians.

Nice work on the video, Kwee. I loved that you included the captions explaining the plant, and I love your pitch at the end. That was very nice, and well deserved.

This is great information for local residents. This looks like a great option for a privacy fence.

Hi Kwee, We have them, some call them honeysuckle plants.  The butterfliy and hummingbirds love them!

I have had this pagoda shrub for 3 years now. I am not exaggerating ... I have not seen one butterfly or hummingbird yet on it. I have a garden with multiple fire bush, porterweed, shrimp plants, nectar feeders so I get many hummers and butterflies but they bypass the pagoda and avoid it like the plague. Very disappointed since it takes up valuable space.
