National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day is November 7! Fair Warning Chocoholics!
I can’t wait to celebrate this day so I wanted to give everyone a head’s up. Thursday, November 7, is National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day. Yes, I know… who in the heck thinks these days up. Quite frankly, I haven’t a clue, but as long as it’s a food that I like, then let’s celebrate the day!
This is not any chocolate day, no, this is a true chocolate lover’s day because a true chocolate lover doesn’t even consider milk chocolate or (egads!) white chocolate REAL chocolate.
National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day is not to be taken lightly, because you’re getting health benefits from the bittersweet chocolate as well the almonds.
Some facts:
~Bittersweet chocolate contains very little sugar. You can tell the difference just by taking a bite of a regular chocolate bar, and then eating a piece of dark or bittersweet chocolate.
~Eating chocolate with 70%+ cacao gives you a health benefit.
~ Bittersweet chocolate contain little or no milk, but instead has chocolate liquor (liquid chocolate)
~Dark or bittersweet chocolate is a good source of flavonoids, which can protect the heart.
~Almonds are not without their health benefits, including help with respiratory disorders, coughs, diabetes, and anemia.
I couldn’t leave you without one recipe to try…. Almond Chocolate Pudding Cake! It looks simpleand I may try it this weekend.
My favorite: Godiva dark chocolate almond bark!
What about you? What’s your favorite dark/bittersweet chocolate treat?
