By
Real Estate Agent with REAL ESTATE CENTRAL

Hello. I just kind of wanted bent and to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to better the signing of contracts by out of state parties by fax. The legibilty decreasing every time is bothersome and each time a page is faxed, At the end of he day  my pages look as if they are one big ink spot. Frustrating.

Jeff, You would be better served to get yourself a good scanner and e-mail them. Electronic forms which you also have access to provides e-mail capability. Faxing should soon become only a last resort where no connectivity is available.

I have just set up my own "E-fax".  I am hoping that will reduce some of the degradation.  Faxes are sent to an 800 number and converted to digital form and sent to your e-mail inbox.

I just started this, so if anyone else has had good input on quality, it would be appreciated.

I also use my scanner to e-mail documents to my clients as PDFs  (For a free converter go to http://www.primopdf.com/ )

The Quality of E-fax is very good.  I use it to receive most of my faxes. They arrive in my e-mail and are already in PDF format so no conversion is needed.  I can simply attach them and distribute.

For other items, I use the Full Version of Adobe Acrobat and convert mostly everything to a pdf.  Easier to send and no loss of quality.

You can pick up a used scanner for less than $50. Signed pages can be scanned in and a PDF program will assemble all of the pages into one document.

Thanks for the info on the e-faxes, Brian.

I also find it is nice to have a digital back-up of forms in case something gets lost (or eaten by a hungry fax machine)

The best way I found is to pdf the documents. An easy way to do this is with a pdf print driver. You can get a free one at http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp. The sellers will have to print it to sign it and will have to rescan it as a pdf to email it again, but it is a whole lot better than faxing. Since the program is free, the price is right.

Good post. I hate getting documentation that I have to strain to see. I know the next time through, it will be completely illegible. I much prefer e-faxes, and as Michael suggested, pdfs. Much cleaner!

Great post!  I really wanted to see the comments on this as I didn't have anything to contribute since legibility is always an issue.  Thank you!
