My First Concert ~ Contest Winner Announcement!

The "My First Concert" contest provided an interesting look into the stories about what it took for people to get to their first concert.   It seems that it took a lot of begging and pleading, and at times, outright lying to become on of the screaming fans in the audience.

Some of us saw bands that are considered by most to be amongst the greatest of all time, while others saw artists that were only relevant for that moment in time.  Hopefully, everyone enjoyed this walk down memory lane back to the teenage years.

                                                                          GRAND PRIZE ~ 1000 Points

 LINDSAY PENDLETON

Lindsay showed us all that a great story and great writing doesn't necessarily have to go hand-in-hand with great music.  If you want to have some fun, you definitely should check out Lindsay's contest entry.  It had everything...suspense, love, songwriting...and so on.  It was like living inside an episode of a teen drama.  This post was longer than most, but you'll be amazed at how easy it is to read and enjoy.

HONORABLE MENTION ~ 500 Points Each

 MELISSA GRANT

What rules would you break to go and see a band that you love?  Melissa takes you through a fascinating story of teenage rebellion in this must-read contest entry.  Of course, her first concert ended up costing her a social life for a while after her parents found her out.  Parents should check this out as a guideline to see what your teenagers may try someday.

 LISA HEINDEL

Lisa's first concert was like going to four first concerts at the same time, a virtual who's who of late 70's music, all for an incredibly low price.  It makes you wonder how kids today get to go to see their favorite bands, because prices are much higher, and you get a lot less for your money.

 LISA BOSQUES

If you know Lisa at all, you will be well-aware that Queen is her favorite band, so it comes as no surprise that they were her first concert also.  Read about Lisa's very happy experience and the bittersweet ending to the concert.

 JIM LUDES

Jim's first concert experience was a very cool one, although he didn't exactly arrive at the concert in rockstar fashion.  Check out his post for the details.

 MIDORI MILLER

Midori's first concert experience is one that she will always remember, and keep close to her heart.  She got to experience it with her older sister, someone that she looked up to, and sadly lost.

Congratulations to all of our winners.  Thank you to all of those that entered the contest.

Adam, what a fun contest. Yea, yea, I was going to enter but hey life happens. Anyway, my first concert was the Beach Boys when I was in 5th grade in a high school gym before they got popular and yea I kissed Dennis Wilson the drummer. Wish I had had the time to post on it...next time. It is really a great group and congratulations to all who entered.

Adam, this was so much fun and thanks for the mention!  Lindsay's post was terrific, as were all of the entries.  It's a blast to hear everyone's stories and play "where are they now?" with the bands.  Thanks for putting this together...always a good time in the group :)

Adam - in the words of John McEnroe - YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!  I just heard this was the last contest for a while! As I said on Jason's blog (yes this is partially pasted from there) You can't take a break from the contests!! They are so cool and we get to hear all these great stories. I'm launching the CCC - Campaign to Continue Contests!

Adam - There have been four people on my post so far who are lobbying for us to continue the contests.  Perhaps we should allow them to come up with some potential contest ideas?

I think I already let the cat out of the bag on your contest results post, Jason.  There really is only one possible theme for the next one.
