Alan Anderson's Sparkle and Glamour
Christmastime is a time for sparkle and glamour….and I’ve found the most sparkling decorative accessory for the holiday. Well, for that matter, anytime of the year. The below jeweled Christmas trees are beautifully framed.
Meet Alan Anderson the Jewelry Designer of these equisite Christmas trees.
Alan Anderson has been in the consulting and design business for more than 35 years. He has renovated homes, worked as mamager of operations at the Hotel del Coronado, and director for the Tarbox Art Gallery in LaJolla CA. While working for Barneys of NY in Beverly Hills, CA, as Director of Corporate Service and Design, he worked with top designers in Los Angeles. This provided him the opportunity to work with major movie studios and movie stars.
When Alan moved to West Virginia, he worked with Tag Interiors at The Greenbrier as a consultant in design selection at Ralph Lauren, and Greenbrier Avenue Men's as assistant manager, and at Greenbrier Avenue Jewelers as the Roberto Coin specialist, all of which have allowed his creativity and knowledge in design, fashion, antiques, and jewelry to flourish.
As an artist, Alan has been creating pieces from re-purposed vintage jewelry for the past 35 years. He now resides in Lewisburg. Since 2001, his work has been shown at The Greenbrier, and recently has been invited to display his pieces with the Best of West Virginia artists at Tamarack.
Alan Anderson started thinking about the concept of jewelry trees after seeing one at a second hand shop in the late 70s. “It was made with cheap jewelry with lights punched through the center of the tree.” Alan liked the concept of a jewelry tree and started to create his own trees and would give them to relatives for Christmas. In 2011, Alan loaned the Jeweler at the Greenbrier one of his trees for a display. A man browsing the shop asked Alan if he could buy the tree, but he replied “it is not for sale”. The man insisted on a price so Alan said $2,500 thinking he would go away, but called his bluff and bought the tree. That is when Alan decided to start retailing the trees.
Alan says, “I like the personal connection that can come from an artist’s expression. Recently a woman commissioned him to do a tree from jewelry that her mother had left her. When Alan presented her with the finished tree, the woman burst into tears seeing her mother’s jewelry displayed so beautifully in the Christmas tree he had created. When asked what is the attraction of the trees? “Everyone needs a little sparkle in their life”, says Alan.
Alan has also created Christmas cards and tags, as well as flower bouquets. The Christmas cards all have a photo of one of his trees on the front and are blank inside to write your very own message. Price for this creation is $10, 5 cards per package.
The Christmas tags are oval with a creative tree on the front of each. The back has the “from” and “to” line. The receiver of the gift with the tag can hang the tag on the tree as an elegant ornament. Price for this creation is 2 for $5.50 or 4 for $10.
The flower bouquets that Alan creates are exquisite. He has created wedding bouquets that can be a beautiful keepsake for the bride. The bride can use her own jewelry and family heirlooms to make a very special wedding bouquet for a keepsake. As you can see from the photo, Alan uses beautiful white roses with a jewel in each one. Price for bouquets start at $450.00.
Some other items Alan creates are mirrors and heart keepsake..
Of course, you know, I had to buy one of his sparkling creations for the holiday, see photo below. I have my beautiful tree hanging in my office for some sparkle and glamour and it will be displayed all year round. Stop by The Greenbrier, Tamarack, or give Alan a call to create a special holiday gift, or for any occasion for you, a loved one, or friend.
