The Maricopa County Arizona Air Quality Department announces its next Brown Bag series event for 2013 will be held on Monday, November 18, at 12:00 p.m. at the department’s offices, 1001 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.
Topic: No Burn Day; fireplace and woodburning restrictions in Maricopa County
Presenter: Compliance Staff from Maricopa County Air Quality Department
Topic Outline:
The combination of a temperature inversion, which keeps pollutants trapped close to the ground, and thousands of woodburning fires result in poor air quality. Woodburning restrictions are imposed by the Air Quality Department when air quality and weather conditions indicate we may reach or exceed the air quality limit for fine particulates.
Hotels, restaurants and residences face the possibility of penalties for woodburning on declared No Burn Days. Join this workshop to learn more about this problem, no-burn notices, and the Air Quality Department’s compliance approach.

Maricopa County Air Quality Department, 1001 N. Central Ave., 9th floor classroom. Our offices are located on the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Roosevelt in downtown Phoenix. Visitor parking is available in the white, three-story parking garage next to our building. Once parked, enter the building and take the elevator to the 9th floor.
*All visitors to the MCAQD office located at 1001 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ will need to check-in at the reception area in suite 125. Then you may proceed to the 9th floor classroom for the Brown Bag.
