There is practically no such thing as a community hospital around here.  Dobbs Ferry is trying to save its community hospital.  But for most of lower Westchester there are three big hospitals that dominate the scene.  The first is the county hospital in Valhalla/Elmsford, the seconnd most prominent player is White Plains Hospital - a satellite of New York Presbyterian and then there is Sound Shore Hospital in New Rochelle.  It's not a lot for such a big population.  Patients are brought into White Plains from all over the county. It's nice to see a thriving community hospital - somewhere.....

Ruthmarie, we're still a very rural area and the city of Bedford only has a population around 6,000. We have large counties and Bedford is approximately halfway between Roanoke and Lynchburg, so it's a good location for a hospital. The partnership with Centra Health and Carillion in Roanoke is a big plus.

Danny, we are blessed with two super hospitals in Lynchburg. Bedford is fortunate to have one halfway between the two larger cities.
