Forty-two days before Christmas and what a surprise!
there in Roosevelt Field Mall, right in front of my eyes
stood a jolly old gent in a brilliant red suit
With red rosy cheeks, and oh what a hoot.
We expected him later, that's to be sure,
but there the man stood, just beginning his tour.
It took everything in me not to take him aside
to ask for his help for every young bride
That her life be a gift, her future secure
filled with only those things that she could endure.
For her children, I prayed for a life filled with love
to be always protected by the man from above.
For the pets of this world I asked only one thing
In equal proportion to the joy that they bring,
a warm place to sleep, a person who cares
Fresh water to drink and the right to be there.
So Santa, this year, lets have presents not wrapped
Just gifts from the heart, what say you old chap?
