I knew better than to stick my toes into the heated waters, but I really could not help myself. All of the discussion on various websites about agent ranking, well, it can rankle some of us for a variety of reasons, and being in the top percent has nothing to do with it. Sure, I rank high now and would benefit, but what happens if I decide not to work so hard anymore? Does that mean I'm worth less when I fall off the rankings? It's not fair to all of the membership of the trade association, NAR, which is backing the rankings.
If a consumer wants to know how many homes an agent has sold, a consumer can ask how many homes did you sell last year? A consumer can always interview a real estate agent herself. There is more behind the story of NAR potentially exposing an agent's income and production to the public.
