Your first thought MIGHT be - big deal, rain in CA. Well, here in paradise it often IS a big deal. We can go months without rain and then all of a sudden it happens, and everyone freaks out on the freeways. And we get mudslides, etc.

But that's not what this is about.

I just got back from the Blogging Conference up in LB starring Rain City Guide master, Dustin Luther. Dustin's "hold on to your seats" rapid-fire talk was inspiring, filled with tips, advices, cautions, wisdom, and much more. It was entertaining! Insightful! For someone who was not a blogger yet, this may have been overwhelming, but at least I have some experience in my newbie phase so most of it made sense...but the learnings were incredible.

BTW Dustin talks like he is seeking a world record on rapid speech...you know, the commercials on TV or radio where at the last minute they have someone spewing out all the disclosures faster than you can listen.

But it rained there. It WAS a big deal.

Before I go further, I apologize for excluding any other Rainer's who were there that I did not meet. I'm sure there were others attending but there was only so much time to chat.

So, in addition to hearing from Dustin, this was a great opportunity to meet, face-to-face, live, in person, some of the AR bunch (and I captured a few on film...well, digitally). And there were some scintillating conversations (I love to throw in a 4-syllable word now and then to sound intelligent).

Roberta Murphy, Brian Brady, Jeff Turner, Bill Leider (you know, Jeff and Bill of RealEstateShows fame - they were off to sequester themselves to judge the Localism in Motion contest), Marlene Bridges, Lynda Eisenmann (I know both Lynda and Marlene from my work in the CRS Chapter), Laurie Manny, Jonathan Washburn and Sara Washburn, and Kaye Thomas.

So do you spot some of the folks I mentioned? BTW these were posted WITHOUT asking permission, so if anyone objects, I will remove them promptly - but everyone behavedand there's nothing embarrassing, so...).

For those who weren't there, you missed a great session. but I bet we'll hear from others who were there to share their thoughts.

Jeff

He was fabulous, Maureen. Too bad the talk wasn't recorded. He had some good slides but most of it was not in the presentation so seeing that would not help.

If I have time I may write a post on what I learned, which won't do justice to him but at least it will convey a few tidbits.

The seminar was great!! Dustin Luther is brilliant and today he shared gems with us. We can work within the real estate industry for a lengthy time without ever learning some of the wisdom he shared.

It was great to meet so many Rainers today!  I left with my mind off in thought reviewing the material covered. I may write briefly on it myself today or tomorrow...

Jeff, I hope to have the opportunity to someday meet some of the other AR member at an event such as this.  It sounds like you had a good time and learned something, that is always a good combination.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks so much for the great post, the photos and  mention, especially for a newbie.  It was good seeing you today.

My head is still swimming.   Normally I'm a pretty fast listener, but Dustin is on a whole new plane, sort of like an auctioneer. He was absolutely amazing!  I couldn't begin to take notes fast enough.

And like a few others have said, it was wonderful meeting others and connectioning a name, a blog. and a face.  It was fun trying to pick them out in the crowd.

Also, I want to say thanks once again to Brian, without him this would not have happened for me and I'm sure others.  I would definitely encourage others to attend future events that may be available!

Hope to see you at the next CRS meeting!

Thanks, George - it really was fun getting to meet some folks personally, and of course hearing the words of wisdom from Dustin relly capped the day.

Lynda - I feel the same. There was alot to take in, which of course generates even more ideas...

Sara - thanks for your comments. It sounds like everyone who attended felt pretty much the same. I hope you write your post on today - I hope you do the same - perhaps those who couldn't be there can learn from us vicariously.

Kaye - so glad we got to meet F2F. It WAS exciting today. Now to put some of the ideas into place!

That was just too much fun today.  I hope we have a 2-3 day conference some time this year where everyone from Active Rain can attend.  Jeff, why did it take Long Beach for us to meet?  We live 15 minutes from each other!  We have to make a point to have a Starbucks monthly group meeting with Roberta et al

Well, Brian, there is NO excuse on my end. I get to SB fairly regularly showing property. I think a regularly meeting monthly is a great idea. Bet we could get some other folks involved too. Let's figure out who is in the nearby area. Great to exchange ideas, gripe, etc. :)

Or maybe a glass of wine on the beach too? Love those sunsets...The Beach House upper deck?

What do you say, Roberta??

I... am... most... glad... that... everyone... enjoyed... themselves...

(I'm trying to slow down a bit in my typing as well!).

I honestly had a blast and look forward to meeting up with everyone again some day soon!

Jeff, Thanks for the post, the pics and the mention.  It was great seeing you today.  Wow!  It not only "Rained" in LB today, the doppler picked up Dustin with gusts of 180 mph and greater.  He didn't just talk fast, he packed a ton of info into a very short couple of hours.  As a newbie (joined AR 1/4/2007) I can't imagine getting a better foundation for what's next!  My head is still spinning with ideas.  Can't wait to compare notes on what you're implementing first.

Thanks again, Dustin - from ALL of us.

Marlene -  I know how you feel. The list is long and figuring out what to do will be a challenge. We'll talk more at the CRS Board meeting next month, OK?

Jeff, it was great to meet you face to face, as well as Brian, Roberta, Laurie, Jonathon, Sara and Dustin. Dustin, great job! I have my own photos from the event... I just haven't downloaded them yet!

Jeff - Ditto. Fun times, great learning. Neat to put a real person to the pics and blogs. Look forward to more "live" interactions.

I just saw Dusting at a Top Producer Blogging Training in Glendale.  He is absolutely amazing.  For someone like me who is new to blogging, I just couldn't believe how much I learned.

He certainly knows his stuff and the enthusiasm was contagious!  What a treat!

Go Dustin!!!

LOL, I confess, yes I do not like to be on the other side of a camera. Dang Jeff, I can't believe you put that picture up, lol.

That was truly a great time, seminar was fabu, company was great, left with a big smile on my face and felt good all day.

Thanks, Jeff T. for adding your photographic talents to the post. Laurie's pic (sort of) gave us a good laugh. I had an opportunity to get her pic but didn't. :(
