Sellers/Buyers-Recycle Your Unwanted Items to Help Others! Call Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds homes for people who can't afford to do it on their own.
They have a "recycling" program, called ReStore that is one I'd like to share with you (see below). You can donate certain items in the home you just purchased and want to get rid of for remodeling purposes or you are a seller who has a buyer who just doesn't want what you've got in the home they're purchasing from you! A bit wordy, but you get my drift....
Here is a brief description of what Habitat for Humanity is and what they're looking for:
Our ReStores raise funds to help Habitat for Humanity build affordable homes in the Portland/Vancouver area. And, we keep usable materials out of the waste stream and into home building, remodeling and creative arts projects. With the help of our shoppers, donors and volunteers, we will fund 8 homes this year
and keep more than 2,800 tons of materials out of the landfill.
2800 TONS OF MATERIALS OUT OF THE LANDFILL
(worth repeating, I'd say)
There is a section on their website called "Material Recovery" that might be worth your while to inquire about. Here's their brief synopsis:
Habitat for Humanity ReStore’s Building Material Recovery service lets you prepare for the next phase of your remodeling project while helping your community. We take out usable items you are replacing and bring them to the ReStore to raise funds that support building Habitat homes for local families.
