Planning A Park City Ski Vacation?

If you are planning on coming out to Park City for a ski vacation this winter there are some things to keep in mind to maximize the fun you will have on your trip.

Park City's Historic Main StreetDo your research and plan early.  Yes, ideally, you will already have done this months ago, but it is not to late.  There are always a few bargains available for last minute planners and still plenty of time for those planning trips in mid to late winter.

Utilize VRBO or other rent by owner services, especially for last minute planners.  Many owners with unsold inventory will be willing to negotiate with you for last minute stays.  They will consider some income better than none in an empty unit, keep this in mind.

If you don't want to rent a car there are plenty of ski-in/ski-out accommodations, even from many condos in town via the Town Lift, that starts right between Main Street and Park Avenue and delivers you straight to mid mountain at Park City Mountain Resort.  The free city bus literally runs everywhere so once you are here you can get anywhere on public transportation.

If you don't need ski-in/ski-out there are plenty of options outside of town for a lot less money, utilize them.

If you have kids that snowboard, keep in mind that Deer Valley does not allow snowboarders on their mountain, so be prepared to ski at Park City or Canyons or make arrangements to drop off the kids and pick them up at the end of the day.

Eating out in Park City during high season can get expensive.  If you eat every night on Main Street, think Honolulu prices.  The restaurants are great and may well be worth it to you, but if you want to save some money and still get a great meal try some of the many restaurants in the Kimball Junction or Quarry Village area that cater to locals.  No hassle to park, less need for reservations, great food and a lot easier on your checkbook.

If you end up falling in love with Park City as so many have before you and would like to own your peace of paradise you can reach me anytime at scottL.parkcity@gmail.com or by phone at 435-513-2324.

Hi Scott -- while I think most people who travel to Park City and other ski environs probably have planned their trip, I'm sure your suggestions will come in handy for those who are not as prepared.

Haven't skied in years, but I could see myself hanging out in a lodge with an "adult beverage" in front of the fire. Great suggestions and ideas for visitors to Park City.

Debe-it is beautiful here and we are expecting a nice snow storm this weekend that all the ski areas could definitely use.

Michael-There are always a few last minute travelers and hopefully they will find these tips useful.

Roger-I should have included tips to the best spots for an adult beverage, thanks for the reminder.

Connie-my kids love it and if they love it I love it, all I need is for them to be happy.
