In the continuing saga of my husband and I buying a lot to build on, I met with our contractors yesterday at the lot. It's a good thing we are friends and they know that I get super excited, but need information to regain some semblance of calm. So I brought my list of questions, and they brought their best patience along.
We got the lot officially measured to double check if what the county shows appears to be accurate. Since one lot line recently got surveyed and staked, I was concerned to verify whether the width I thought I had to work with for house plans is truly correct. And hurray, it checked out just fine.
They were also able to determine where utility connection points likely will be, and we all considered if just one tree, or possibly two will need to come down to make room for the house. It was also a perfect time to ponder which side the driveway should go on, and that too will effect the floor plan choices.
We also got to strategize next necessary steps of meeting with the city to get all the details about building permits and associated costs for that plus utility hookups. As the late afternoon temperatures left us all shivering, we decided on everybody's next immediate "assignments" and then a plan for a next meeting (somewhere indoors) to hammer out some of the next details.
And sure enough, I got enough questions answered that I am feeling a bit calmer - back to excitement, but not flat out crazed status! Thank goodness for patient, understanding contractors!!
Back to looking at just a few more floor plans now.....
