In walks Jacob! A twelve year old real estate agent in training!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of helping the Mother of one of my long-time clients look for a winter home. My client got married this past year or so and she now has 4 step-kids! Her Mom wanted to buy a home closer to her daughter and new grand kids in  Metro Phoenix.

In walks Jacob! A twelve year old real estate agent in training!

Jacob future Real Estate Agent in Training

My client emailed me earlier and asked if I minded is she and her step-son came along on the tour.  Absolutely not - I would love it!!  She let me in on Jacob's story - he eats, sleeps and dreams real estate and has for years.  I let her know that I'd hire him for the day as my assistant. She knew he'd love that!

At the first complex, the first one to come and shake my hand and greet me was - you got it - Jacob! He was smiling from ear to ear and chatting away and so excited about looking at homes - for real.  After the deal of him being my assistant was made, he skipped all the way up the side walk looking for the home with a sign.  I FOUND IT, he says!  With my cards in hand he was ready to open the lockbox and go in and look around.  But wait Jacob, I whispered, be sure to let your clients go in first today!  He did and we stayed outside talking about what kinds of questions to ask etc. Ok he says, let's go!

Inside he made observations that made a lot of sense, nice open floor plan, plenty of light, nice cabinets, great patio and courtyard with trees. Seriously the young man sounded like a real estate agent! He also pointed out a few things that needed attention, which was very astute of him. We were all having such a good time watching 'Jacob' in action.

Agent in Training - Jacob! We were able to walk to the 2nd home in the complex. Jacob had a bit of a problem helping me with the lockbox and 4 keys that real agents would have been challenged with - but everyone was patient.  He again immediately noticed all the important things to notice. Of course he did!  Makes me smile thinking about it!

We had to drive to the 3rd and final home. He figured out the lockbox with my help and let 'his' clients in the home.  It was clear he didn't like this one as much as the other two and started to say so - but I whispered - but Jacob it's not what you like, it's what your client likes.  How about if we talk about the comparisons and help them see what makes sense for them, OK? And of course he did just that and did a great job!

Jacob's grandma told me he said to her later - you'd better call Anna and 'submit an offer' right away! She assured him it would all work out fine but that she wanted to think about it over night.  He reluctantly agreed. And  then he said - be sure to keep me updated!

Submit Offer Now Grandma!

It was a pure delight having this young man be my assistant for the day. I have every belief that Jacob is a born real estate agent and I'd hire him in a heart beat. He's got what it takes, enthusiasm, passion, willingness to learn and he's great with people. This young man has a brilliant future ahead of him!

Nick I'm quite sure this young man can create anything he wants with his attitude. Awesome kid!

Alexandra - it was pure delight seeing Jacob in action!  He really had a good firm grasp on what to say and do. We all enjoyed his 'expertise'.

Scott -  great that your daughter used to be your 'assistant'. It's so good to have kids involved in part of the business if they want to be.

Margaret he surely is a keeper! Jacob is going places in his life - for sure!

Kathy it is indeed fun to be around and watch.  He's the first kid in a long time that was 'on fire' with passion for anything real estate.  Loved every minute!

Mike - lol - now that's funny!

Janice - I think so!

Joan - he is a talented young man!  And a great assistant!

Debbie - he's a natural all right!  He listened and learned as we went along and was all ears full of excitement. He finallly was a player in an honest to goodness 'real life' sale.

Jan you know - not much patience was needed as he was ahead of all of us most of the way.  The keys took a little longer but on such a gorgeous Phoenix day nobody really mattered.

Maureen I have a feeling he'll get cracking on his real estate career when he turns 18.  I can see him now!

Jordon it was a real treat for me - truly.  I'd like to see more agents as passionate about their career!

Joan - I get that one as I am a current teacher!  He's an awesome kid who brought joy to the showings!

Rosie - indeed he will.

John - it was a blast!

Patricia now that makes me smile!

Christine - I think we all enjoyed the day!

Inna - he reminds me of me.   I had a similiar experience as a kid and that is why real estate has been my career for so long - thanks to that lady.

Geri - it is fun isn't it!  They see so much and are so eager to learn.

Wayne - I bet he does pass with flying colors and then learns the busines from bottom to top.

Jill you just never know where their passion will lie.  it would be fun - no doubt!

Michael - it was one of those I'll always remember!  And I'm sure he and all the adults will as well.  You can't help but smile watching him do his job!

Richie - absolutely!
