How Often Do You Blog?

As a general rule, I usually blog, explore other blogs and comment on posts at least once a day. I used to blog regularly, back in 2010, before I got too busy to continue. The truth is, if you don't make a habit of blogging, the habit is lost. Like anything else, you have to practice your skills so that they get better, so that you learn and so that you can share what you've accomplished.

If I take more than a few days off of blogging, it can become dangerously easy to loose all that I've accomplished.  For me at least, getting back to blogging was not like riding a bike. I had to relearn everything or, at least, brush up on all I missed. It was very time consuming but, hopefully, I never have to go through that again.

How do I make sure it never does? I blog (at least) once a day even if it's a draft or an idea. Sometimes inspiration comes from news articles, other times it's things I notice on Active Rain, or while blogging and, with some luck, they become full fleshed out posts.

Most importantly, if someone subscribes to my blog, I want them to know that there will be fresh content (almost always) every day. When someone gives you their trust and says: "I like what you have to say", it's your responsibility to keep them engaged. There are plenty of bloggers on Active Rain but they chose you...it's an honor, treat it as such.

One of the things I love about Active Rain though...you can start a conversation just by commenting on a post but...you can also write a post in response. Whether we agree or not, the point is you're blogging and providing valuable information from another point of view. Make sure what you contribute has merit though. Blog because you have something to say.

Active Rain has a lot to offer, it's up to you whether you take advantage of it or not.

Well, my goal is to do it every day. When we have a contest like this month for 30 blogs in 30 days, I'll do so. But it's sort of like exercise with me... my goal is every day and if I manage 5 days out of the 7, I feel like I've won.

Nina, I'm the same way. I find it cathartic, relaxing and a very good marketing tool. If I can't get to it it's because I had a very busy day but I try to do something at least once a day. I've done 30 in 30 before, it's very challenging but very rewarding.

Phil~ I am a big fan of blogging & I love the results, too! The toughest part for me is keeping it consistent & fresh, but I will never let that get in my way.....SUGGESTED BIG-TIME

Jon, that's true. Whenever that writer's block sets in I cringe but I power through, even if it's not the same day, something will come up and I'll be happy I didn't give up!
