DIVERSITY.  Isn't that we are all about?   Real Estate professionals are sales people.  We need to hone our skills to appeal to a wide variety of customers.  How adaptable are we ?  Do we blend in unnoticed or do we stand out?

Customers are all basically the same.  They are people.  They come in all colors, shapes and sizes.  What differs are their housing needs and financial abilities-they too are individual. Every person has their own story to tell, and every situation is different.

Addressing those needs individually is what makes us "egg-cellent" examples of what being true professionals is all about.

Treating every customer as if they were buying a million dollar property, earns their respect. In the long run generates referals.

ARE YOU JUST ONE OF MANY OR DO YOU STAND OUT?

Our business is very competitive. We are constantly looking for a tool, a tip,  a gimmick or a new way to stand out in our field.

Are you just one of many "flocking" to a would be customer?  Or, are you uniquely different? What is it about you that people like the most?

Being colorful is certainly a way to be different. It doesn't matter what color your skin is, or what part of the world you were born in. What matters is that your true colors shine through and that you display your knowledge, professionalism, and courtesy in your field.

The economy is presenting new challenges.  For many of us, these are tough times.

Many of us will have to learn new ways to adapt to this changing market. We may have to learn a new language for example in order to better communicate with foreign buyers. We may have to lighten up a little and make the home buying experience fun. We may have to work harder or longer to achieve our goals.

We may have to learn more about various cultures in order to better understand how we are different.

Real Estate is evolving. Perhaps it is time we break out of the shell of conventional thinking.

Too often we "scramble" out the door without really knowing much about you we are trying to sell to!  Sometimes the transactions are over-easy, while other times they are hard boiled.  Thanks for the comment Gary.

Great posting.  The agent who can fit it more places will make more sales.  Bigger client bases come from more groups.

Thank god it's Friedegg! Oh, well.. I guess it's not really, but I just wanted to get in on the pun fun. Thanks for a clever post (although color-dyeing the real chicks makes me really sad :-(

Allison, a great way of expressing yourself. You didn't talk about the customers who are hard-boiled or scrambled.

That's a great photo of the chick hatching.   Unfortunately, it looks like the chick is still the same color as all the eggs!

Finding something to be different with is sometimes hard.  We have an agent here that uses the cow and is quite effective at her marketing.

In our changing market we need to be more colorful ! We need to stand out from the rest ! This is easily done by having something someone doesn't !

Allison,

I like to feel them out first before I step over the line:)...I let it all hang out but you can never really read what they are thinking until you get to know them...

OK I don't have any egg jokes, but the funny thing is the post almost has mixed messages. Is it to be diversified to get more client or is it really working in a niche which is less diversified to get more business. I tend to think and the trend shows that we should really focus on one aspect and do it better to get a lot more business.

Allison, this is so true.  I've already committed to learning Tagalog since I started working with an agent from the Philippines.  I just figured it would make it easier for everyone if I at least knew how to say some things.  Thank you for reinforcing my thought.  I should've taken action on Wednesday when I thought of it.

Allison,I love your creativity.  And YOU are colorful in your writing and in your photos, and very interesting.  I had just used the egg idea and did a mail out with a cut out egg that said " I am the eggs-act Realtor you need" trying to be different and show that I am different from the rest. On Saturday,I did a colorful post with my hair and lips "green" for St.Patrick's day.  I think the creativity should be there as well as having fun! I love my job, don't you?

Allison,

This has been an egg-istential experience for me! I thought about poaching this blog, but I am too hard shelled to to lose my integrity over something so fragile! Great post!

If you want to get something done, you have to 'break a few eggs.'

Applies to real estate as you have so creatively demonstrated.  Use creativity to stand out, then back it up with the expertise and results!
