Over the Counter Drugs, Grapefruit Juice, and Alcohol -- BEWARE!
I was browsing through emails this morning as I awaited my first cup of coffee and I read a couple of things I didn't know, or forgot, and though I should share with the general pubic...in case I wasn't the only one.
Did you know that grapefruit and medicine do not mix? Whether over the counter, or prescription drugs, when mixed with grapefruit juice can cause increased absorption...in other words, an overdose! So, when taking your medications, drink them with water, not grapefruit juice.
Along the same lines...acetaminophen, or Tylenol...never, never mix it with alcohol. Evidently, the combination of chemicals can cause lethal liver damage and almost 200 deaths per year arise from this combination.
Wow.
In the interests of validity, I checked with the Federal Drug Administration.
So, off now to grab my morning coffee. Not healthy either, I imagine. But I drink half-caff at half strength...no Starbucks for me. Maybe that will help...
