What can I say? I would be lying if I have not known real estate agents who watch the phone hoping that it will ring for them. Then these same agents would whine endlessly about the company not providing them with leads.
My first question to them was "What have YOU been doing to make the phone ring"? This usually puts a bad taste in their mouth, and again they focus on the company not making them a living. To all those agents who are depending on their company I wish you good luck! Because in today's market, companies are now looking for agents to do more than ever to get the phones to ring.
So, what did you do with your last listing? Did you do "just enough" or did you take it the extra mile? I have always mentored "newbies" to do MORE. No matter what the price of a property is. Hardwork and little extras are an investment in the future of a successful real estate agents. Doing MORE gets you referrals.
If the property is small make the "marketing plan" a little bit bigger to-do! You never know, maybe Junior's house is modest, but his Mom and Dad have a fantastic McMansion on a hill and they were impressed with what you did for their son's cottage.
If you are Seller and an agent states "I don't do that in this sale price range", get another agent that knows the value of MORE. Notice the MORE you are getting and show gratitude with referrals.
Give it a shot, Agents. MORE doesn't have to be a four letter word. Give your Buyers and Sellers a little More (without them having to ask for it!) YOU will deserve to get referrals!
Thanks for reminding us that we all need to go above and beyond to produce raving fans.
